Deep Springs Elementary was constructed on 11 acres of the Deep Springs subdivision in 1963 and dedicated on Nov. 15, 1964 by then-Superintendent Guy S. Potts. The subdivision and the school were built in response to the growing north-end population spurred by the location of several manufacturing plants in northern Lexington. A decagon-shaped addition was quickly added in 1965, housing the school library and eight teaching stations, and a separate gymnasium was added in 1977. The school was renovated in 1987 and again in 2013.
During its history, Deep Springs has had five principals: Imogene Wells, Lucille Weathers, Hazel Olinger, Matthew Thompson, and our current principal, Adam Kirk.
